I’m a collector. Not so much of shoes anymore, although that used to be the case. (And they’re pictured here for a whole other reason!).
The treasures I collect now are, for the most part, memories, quotes and experiences that hold meaning for and inspire me. It could be because of who the givers are, or what they provided. It could be because the intangible collectables spark something in my soul. This weekend I came across a quote in my collection that has done just that:
“When we feel stuck, going nowhere — even starting to slip backward — we may actually be backing up to get a running start.” – Dan Millman
As I continue on my journey, I’m discovering that I’m coming back into alignment with who I am and what I want. “They” say that when you’re on the right track, in alignment, feeling like you’re going with the current and not against it, help and support come to you in ways that you can’t plan. It’s not coincidence. The people, circumstances, lessons, information, connections, thoughts — they’re making an appearance because you recognize them now.
I couldn’t recognize the things I know, the things I don’t know and the things that I need because I was too wrapped up in trying to get somewhere. Where, I didn’t know — but I was in a hurry. So I hit the “pause” button.
For a while I thought I was taking a step backwards, or falling behind, which only caused me to get further mired in what was holding me back and allowing it to continue to do so. Not so. After taking a step back, looking at the big picture, and re-landscaping my environment to allow myself to thrive in more conducive conditions, I have a new clarity. And my shoes are at the front door, ready to take me in new directions.
